The Raid II (2014)

Sequel to the game changing action film that introduced the world to Iko Uwais and the Indonesian martial art form of pencak silat.  Welsh (surprise, surprise) director Gareth Evans builds on the limited storyline of the first jaw-dropping film and makes his Godfather gangster film.  Still violent as hell, and pure entertainment.

Meek’s Cutoff (2010)

Kick off Women’s History Month by watching this slow burn Western written and directed by the always worthwhile Kelly Reichart.  Again, teaming with her muse, Michelle Williams, Reichart tells the tale of the Donner Party but from a needed female perspective.  Also starring married couple Zoe Kazan and Paul Dano.

Lola (2022)

Odd alternative history sci-fi story about two British sisters that intercept broadcasts from the future during WW2 and inadvertently change history. Think Man in the High Castle. It’s got a brisk 1hr 18min runtime which is just…odd. But it’s good.

Hipgnosis was an art design duo that made just about every iconic album cover in the 60s,70s & 80s. Late 20th century art history, if you will.
