Gareth’s Picks

The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)

A very effective horror film from André Øvredal starring the always brilliant Brian Cox.  The structure of this film is quite compelling. Don’t sleep on this one and if you watch it you may lose some sleep.

Available on TUBI

Room 237 (2012)

fantastic documentary that examines the many interpretations of Stanley Kurbrik’s The Shining.  Directed by Rodney Ascher, the man behind the terrifying The NIghtmare, a film about sleep paralysis, also available on TUBi.

Available on Kanopy

Craig’s Picks

The Silent Partner (1978)

Ahh the 70s. Elliott Gould was a box office star.

This is a cat and mouse crime thriller starring Gould as a clever bank teller (yes the lead is a BANK TELLER) and a very very weird Christopher Plummer as the villain that tries to rob said bank. The hills are alive with the sound of corduroy suits.  Also what the hell is John Candy doing in this??

Available to rent on Amazon and Apple TV

Jumpin’ Jack Flash (1986)

Speaking of weird bank employee crime thrillers, do you remember when Whoopi Goldberg made lots of movies in the 80s?  She also works for a bank and goes on an espionage adventure when a spy mistakenly slides into her DMs on her bank Commodore 64 computer.

It’s actually really funny and she’s charming as hell.

You can stream this on Hulu.
