Invaders from Mars (1986)
Severely underrated Tobe Hooper re-invention of the 1953 classic. In this case, the McCarthyism theme is replaced by the 80’s Reagan era and it is just as, if not more terrifying. Imagine your parents and everyone else around you is slowly being controlled by aliens. Maybe this needs to be remade now. Terrified me as a kid and just as scary now. Throw in excellent performances by Karen Black, Louis Fletcher, and But Cort and you have a party.

Transylvania 6-5000 (1985)
Another blast from my childhood. Jeff Goldlum and Ed Begly Jr. star as tabloid reports who go to uncover the truth of monsters in Eastern Europe. It’s a comedy. It also stars Geena Davis, Carol Kane, and Joe Bologna. I must have watched this a hundred times on HBO back in the day. I need to rewatch it this summer too.

Sky Riders (1976)
If the police can’t help you recover your kidnapped family from terrorists, you call in professional hang gliders to rescue them from a mountain top lair. The 70s were a wild time.

Android (1984)
Klaus Kinski is a scientist on a space station with his assistant Max carrying out illegal research on androids until three refugees show up. Then it gets weird. The 80s were a wild time.
