Australian punk-rockers Amyl and The Sniffers have unveiled “Jerkin,” the final teaser from their highly anticipated album *Cartoon Darkness*, set to drop on October 25th. True to the band’s no-holds-barred style, the track is accompanied by an uncensored, NSFW video available on their website, while a censored version streams on YouTube.
Vocalist Amy Taylor explains the song’s fiery intent, stating, “It’s about channeling anger and humor—especially as a woman, where you’re often expected to keep things smooth to make others comfortable.” In her typically candid fashion, Taylor emphasizes that the song celebrates personal empowerment, delivering a biting message to the world: “Sometimes, the best way to cope with frustration is to poke back, even if it feels pointless.”
The video, directed by John Angus Stewart, takes an unfiltered approach, featuring full-frontal nudity and challenging societal discomfort with the human body. “The way genitals offend people is absurd,” Stewart notes. “We wanted to remove artifice and present the body in an open, authentic way, driven by the personalities involved.”
Stewart describes the production as an organic process, where performers dictated their comfort levels. “It became less about the concept and more about presence. The result felt like a natural evolution—just a white wall and the human body.”
“Jerkin” follows previously released singles “Big Dream,” “Chewing Gum,” and “U Should Not Be Doing That,” promising a raw, unrestrained journey through *Cartoon Darkness*’ punk ethos. As Taylor puts it, the new album’s edge comes from a world that’s “pissing her off more than ever”—and she’s unapologetically pushing back.
