After breadcrumbing us with singles for the past several months, Philly legends They Are Gutting a Body of Water (aka TAGABOW for short) just dropped their long-awaited “Kool Faith / Loosies II” mixtape today, Oct. 16. (Which happens to be Bob Mould’s birthday! It’s a powerful day, y’all.)
As alluded to in the hed, this gigantic mixtape contains a whopping 29 tracks, the majority of which are collaborations with other bands and musicians — including but not limited to Cashier, Hooky, Toner, Total Wife, Horse Jumper of Love, Hotline TNT and other DIY greats. In fact, TAGABOW’s Doug Dulgarian playfully coined a couple of “alternate titles” for this behemoth of a release in an Instagram caption:
“LOOSIES II
aka NOW THATS WHAT I CALL MUSIC 2026
aka I AINT LISTENING TO ALL THAT: THE MIXTAPE”
It all kicked off with with the absolutely killer “charter spec,” featuring the aforementioned HJOL, which dropped on May 19 of this year. (Which happened to be MY birthday! Come through, bdays.)
“Kool Faith / Loosies II” is currently available for digital streaming wherever you get your music. We’re partial to Bandcamp over here, and you can stream it right here!
And if you’re a physical media nerd (join the club!), it’ll be released on CD, cassette and double-LP vinyl on Nov. 20 via ATO Records x Julia’s War.
Needless to say, if you’re stumped on what to listen to this weekend, this should occupy your auditory time VERY nicely. Happy listening!
(And if you haven’t heard the aforementioned “charter spec” yet, 1. what have you been doing with your life, and 2. you can watch the MV below!)
