Take Shelter (2011)
Michael Shannon is at his very best in Jeff Nichol’s end of world masterpiece. The scene with Shannon’s character losing it at the church dinner is one of the best you will ever see. Also starring the always stunning Jessica Chastain and the Nichol’s mainstay Shea Whigham.

Cinemability: The Art of Inclusion (2018)
A well-intended documentary about representation of disabilities in film. Some of it is a bit dated already but overall there are some essential interviews that will change your perspective about representation in the movies.

Liquid Sky (1982)
This avant-garde science fiction film directed by Slava Tsukerman explores a unique blend of new wave aesthetics, punk culture, and, well…drugs. It’s so 80s and not in a good way. It looks like the band Visage made a commercial for heroin. Warning: this has some challenging scenes, including sexual assault and drug use.
Someone put it on YouTube. It’s not streaming anywhere else (I know…shocking)
The Castle (1997)
Directed by Rob Sitch, this Australian indie film is a quirky comedy that follows the Kerrigan family as they fight to save their humble home from government acquisition. It’s endearing.
