Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941)
Boxer Joe Pendleton is not supposed to die but does because of some stupid angel that is a little too quick at snatching Joe’s soul up before his death. So he makes a deal with God or whoever to inhabit Mr. Farnsworth, a wealthy jerk who was just murdered by his wife, until Joe can get a better body (his has been cremated). But of course Joe falls in love in Mr. Farnsworth’s body. With a woman. Not the new body. It’s from 1941.

Heaven Can Wait (1978)
LA Rams Quarterback Joe Pendleton (Warren Beatty) is not supposed to die but does because of some stupid angel that is a little too quick at snatching Joe’s soul up before his death. So he makes a deal with God or whoever (in this version it’s Buck Henry) to inhabit Mr. Farnsworth, a wealthy jerk who was just murdered by his wife (Dyan Cannon) until Joe can get a better body (his has been cremated). But of course Joe falls in love with Julie Christie in Mr. Farnsworth’s body. Charles Grodin as the slimy accomplice to the Farnsworth murder steals the show. Written by Beatty and the queen of film, Elaine May…directed by Beatty and Buck. So it’s got all this The Graduate clout…but it’s a Warren Beatty vanity project. But it’s good. Man, how amazing must it have been to be Warren Beatty in 1978??
Streaming on Amazon Prime and Apple TV
