The Death of Stalin (2017)

If you liked VEEP you will love Armando Iannucci’s hilarious (because it’s true) satire about the transfer of power in the Soviet Union.  Too many great performances to mention, but Steve Buscemi is at his best here as Nikita Kruschev. Laugh until you cry.

Lovely and Amazing (2001)

I have found something to like in all of her films but for me, this is still Nicole Holefcener’s best film.  It captures so many aspects of life about friendship, identity, and family.  It is hilarious and heartbreaking.  Emily Mortimer gives a performance that should have won an Oscar.  The rest of the cast is also stellar.
